Formula 1 returns to Sakhir for the Bahrain Grand Prix, the fourth round of the 2025 season and the first night race of the year. Lando Norris leads the Drivers’ Championship by a single point over Verstappen, with Oscar Piastri trailing his McLaren teammate by 13 points. In the Constructors’ standings, Mercedes are currently McLaren’s closest rivals, although they sit 36 points behind after three races. The Bahrain International Circuit has been a fixture on the F1 calendar since 2004, only missing out in 2011. It became a night race in 2014, famously hosting a dramatic duel between Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg. Known for its exciting racing, the track features long straights and heavy braking zones, especially in the first sector, making it ideal for overtaking and close battles.
Traditionally the season opener from 2021 to 2024, Bahrain has been moved to the fourth slot this year due to the Ramadan calendar. Despite its new place in the schedule, the event remains a fan favorite.
Weather conditions in Sakhir are expected to be dry and sunny throughout the race weekend. While there was a rare rain shower during pre-season testing, the forecast for this weekend predicts clear skies with temperatures in the low 30s Celsius during the day. For the night-time sessions, including qualifying and Sunday’s race, temperatures will cool slightly to the high 20s. Breezy conditions may also play a minor role in the teams’ setup decisions.
