Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi has shared his concerns over Ozzy Osbourne’s participation in the band’s highly anticipated final concert, set for July 5, 2025, at Villa Park in Birmingham. The show, titled Back to the Beginning, marks the band’s farewell and is expected to be an emotional night for both fans and members.
At 76, Osbourne has been facing numerous health issues, including Parkinson’s disease and multiple surgeries on his spine, which have significantly affected his ability to walk and perform. Despite this, he remains committed to taking the stage one last time. According to his wife Sharon, although his mobility is limited, his voice remains in good shape.
Determined to make the performance happen, Ozzy has been preparing physically and vocally, working with a trainer and vocal coach while also focusing on his mental health. “You wake up and something else has gone wrong,” he recently said, describing the ongoing challenges he faces.
Tony Iommi admitted he’s uncertain how the final show will unfold, especially considering Ozzy’s health struggles. He hopes the performance will serve as a positive goal for the iconic frontman. Meanwhile, others involved in the concert, including Tool’s Maynard James Keenan, are remaining cautious but optimistic.
The farewell event will feature a lineup of metal legends like Metallica, Pantera, Slayer, and Alice in Chains, along with a supergroup including Billy Corgan and Tom Morello. Proceeds from the show will go to Cure Parkinson’s, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, and Acorns Children’s Hospice.
