Black Sabbath legend Tony Iommi has expressed concern over longtime bandmate Ozzy Osbourne’s ability to perform at what is expected to be the band’s final-ever concert, citing the frontman’s ongoing health challenges.
Speaking in a recent interview, Iommi said while there is “hope” that Ozzy will join the band on stage for a handful of songs, nothing is guaranteed due to the singer’s deteriorating health. Osbourne, who has battled a range of medical issues in recent years—including a Parkinson’s diagnosis and multiple surgeries—has been largely absent from live performances.
“We’d all love to see Ozzy up there with us one last time,” Iommi said. “But the truth is, his health has to come first. It’s been really tough on him, and none of us want to see him push himself too far.”
The band has been quietly planning a proper farewell event, with hopes to reunite the classic lineup for a symbolic final bow. However, Iommi admitted that even if the show goes ahead, Ozzy’s appearance will depend on how he’s feeling at the time.
“He’s singing better now, and his spirit is strong,” Iommi added. “But we’re taking it one day at a time.”
