The Denver Broncos are set to turn back the clock to 1977 as they host the Kansas City Chiefs in their season finale at Empower Field at Mile High on Sunday. For the second time this season, the Broncos will don their 1977 throwback uniforms, paying homage to the iconic Orange Crush era and the team’s first Super Bowl appearance.
The throwback jerseys, which made their debut in Week 5 against the Las Vegas Raiders, feature distinctive oversized white numbers with Legacy Blue trim, while the pants boast an eye-catching orange-and-Legacy-Blue stripe. The helmet design is equally nostalgic, with the classic Denver “D” logo emblazoned on a Legacy Blue shell, complete with a white facemask and vertical orange stripe. To complete the retro look, the Broncos will also wear orange-and-blue striped socks.
The Broncos previously wore the throwback uniforms in Week 5, securing a 34-18 victory over the Raiders. The game also served as a tribute to the 1977 Super Bowl team, which was honored during the matchup.
As the Broncos look to clinch their first playoff berth since 2015, they will be seeking to replicate the success they enjoyed in the throwback uniforms earlier in the season. With a win against the Chiefs on Sunday, the Broncos can secure a spot in the postseason and cap off the season in style. Kickoff against the Chiefs is set for 2:25 p.m. MT on Sunday.
