The Cadillac Formula 1 Team has officially received the green light to join the Formula 1 grid in 2026. This development marks a significant milestone for the sport, as the team, backed by TWG Motorsports and General Motors (GM), becomes the 11th team to compete in the championship.
The confirmation was announced jointly by the FIA and Formula One Management, following a thorough evaluation process. The Cadillac Formula 1 Team has met all the necessary requirements to join the existing 10 teams, and their entry is expected to bring fresh energy to the sport.
Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1, expressed his enthusiasm for the new team’s entry. “The commitment by General Motors to bring a Cadillac team to Formula 1 is an important and positive demonstration of the evolution of our sport,” he said. “I want to thank GM and TWG Motorsports for their constructive engagement over many months, and I look forward to welcoming the team on the grid from 2026.”
FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem also welcomed the new team, highlighting the significance of their entry. “Today marks a transformative moment, and I am proud to lead the Federation in this progressive step for the championship,” he said. “The FIA Formula One Championship’s expansion to an 11th team in 2026 is a milestone.
