Chaos erupted at the British Grand Prix after the FIA officially announced the disqualification of a McLaren Formula One driver due to a regulatory breach, creating major disruption ahead of Sunday’s race.

The ruling came following a detailed investigation by race stewards into a possible violation involving either technical specifications or sporting rules. Although the FIA has yet to disclose specific details, the infringement was reportedly identified during standard post-session checks.

“The disqualification of a McLaren entrant has been confirmed due to failure to comply with the 2025 Formula One regulations,” the FIA stated, adding that the team has been informed and holds the right to appeal.

The disqualified driver had been seen as a strong contender for a top finish at McLaren’s home race, making the decision a major blow for the Woking-based team.

The removal has also impacted the official starting grid, prompting a reshuffle of race positions and significantly altering the competitive landscape heading into race day.

McLaren has not issued an immediate comment but is expected to respond following internal review of the incident.

Further updates from the FIA and McLaren are anticipated as the situation unfolds.
