Ferrari Thrown Out of Le Mans 2025 After Technical Violation Discovered
Ferrari have suffered a major setback following the 2025 24 Hours of Le Mans, as their No. 50 Ferrari 499P has been disqualified after a post-race investigation revealed a technical infraction.
The car, driven by Antonio Fuoco, Miguel Molina, and Nicklas Nielsen, had originally finished fourth just under 30 seconds behind the winning No. 83 AF Corse Ferrari but has now been removed from the official results after failing scrutineering checks.
The World Endurance Championship (WEC) issued a statement confirming:
“Ferrari #50 disqualified from Le Mans. The rear wing support did not pass the deflection test as required by Article 3.8.7 of the 2025 LMH Technical Regulations and the car’s homologation documents.”
What Went Wrong with Ferrari’s No. 50?
The stewards found two separate violations related to the car’s rear wing:
- Missing parts: Four bolts that should have secured the rear wing support were absent.
- Excessive flexibility: The rear wing bent by 52 mm during testing—well over the 15 mm limit permitted by the rules.
The team manager acknowledged the car’s failure to meet the technical standards and accepted the decision without contest.
Impact on Results and Championship Standings
Although the disqualification does not affect Ferrari’s overall win—with the No. 83 car still crowned race winner after an impressive closing stint by Robert Kubica—it does shake up the final race order. Teams like Cadillac and Toyota move up in the classification as a result.
The ruling also hits Ferrari’s title challenge in the WEC hard, with the No. 50 crew now trailing their teammates by 48 points in the standings.
