FIA Clears McLaren After Post-Race Inspection Following Saudi GP Triumph
JEDDAH, April 20, 2025 — McLaren has been given the all-clear by the FIA following a comprehensive post-race inspection of their cars after a strong showing at the 2025 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. Oscar Piastri secured his third win of the season, while teammate Lando Norris finished fourth, continuing McLaren’s impressive challenge against top teams like Red Bull and Ferrari.
The inspection was part of the FIA’s standard post-race checks but received increased attention due to McLaren’s recent performance surge and the controversy surrounding Max Verstappen’s five-second penalty, which affected the final results.
The FIA confirmed that both McLaren MCL38s met all technical requirements as per the 2024 Formula 1 Technical Regulations. Norris also had a strong weekend, qualifying in the top five and maintaining solid race pace to finish fourth. While he just missed out on a podium, Norris was positive about the team’s trajectory. “We’ve made real progress. Oscar drove brilliantly, and both cars were right up there. That’s a big step forward,” he said.
