In response, Busch began considering broadcasting as a possible career path after racing.
In an interview with The Athletic in October, Busch shared his thoughts on the prospect of transitioning into television. While he had not seriously considered the idea until then, he acknowledged that he was testing the waters. “Maybe. I haven’t really thought much about it,” Busch said, noting that he was exploring whether he had a unique voice and perspective to offer viewers. He also expressed admiration for former drivers like Kevin Harvick and Darrell Waltrip, who have made successful careers in broadcasting after retiring from racing.
“The great thing about broadcasting is being able to highlight the drivers, their struggles, and the parts of the sport that you love,” Busch said, reflecting on the appeal of the role. He also emphasized his desire to give back to the sport, stating, “I’ve had an incredible career, and I’d love to give back rather than just fade away like some others.”
However, despite the potential for a career in broadcasting, Busch made it clear that he’s not ready to leave the track. He confirmed that he would return to Richard Childress Racing for the 2026 season, continuing to race the No. 8 Chevrolet Camaro. Busch remains determined to prove that he still has the skill and drive to compete at the highest level, despite the challenges of the 2025 season.
Although Busch did not secure a victory in 2025, he showed resilience throughout the year. He came extremely close to winning at both Atlanta and Daytona, losing by mere fractions of a second in two of the closest finishes in NASCAR history. These near-misses highlighted his ongoing competitiveness and drive to succeed.
With his determination and the lessons learned from a difficult season, Busch is focused on returning stronger in 2026. While broadcasting remains a tempting option for the future, for now, Busch is committed to continuing his NASCAR career and adding to his already impressive legacy.
