Lewis Hamilton Battles Pain at Monza as Ferrari Announce New Team Signing
Ferrari have released behind-the-scenes footage revealing that Lewis Hamilton endured significant discomfort during last weekend’s Italian Grand Prix at Monza. The seven-time Formula 1 world champion, competing in his debut season with Ferrari, confessed that he was racing through pain while trying to deliver a strong result for the passionate tifosi.
The Briton’s homecoming to Monza carried enormous expectations. Ahead of the race, Hamilton appeared in Milan for a special Ferrari fan event, where thousands turned out to welcome him as one of their own. The excitement was electric, but so too was the pressure. At 40 years old and still adjusting to life in scarlet red, Hamilton knew the spotlight would be brighter than ever. To add to the challenge, he arrived at Monza carrying a five-place grid penalty from Zandvoort, which immediately set him on the back foot.
Qualifying saw Hamilton initially secure P5, but the penalty meant he had to start from 10th on the grid. Maximum! I have pain here,” he admitted candidly. The revelation underscored the effort it took for him to extract performance from the SF-25 despite the limitations he was facing.
Team principal Frédéric Vasseur also commented on Hamilton’s adaptation process, noting that his approach differs significantly from that of his predecessor, Carlos Sainz. While Sainz was often praised for consistency and smooth driving, Hamilton brings an aggressive and relentless style, forcing the car to its limits in search of every opportunity.
Though Hamilton missed out on a podium in front of Ferrari’s home crowd, his gritty drive highlighted his determination to prove himself in his first season with the Scuderia. Fighting through both a grid penalty and physical pain, the veteran showed flashes of the form that made him a seven-time champion.
Away from the track, Ferrari also made headlines by announcing a new signing within their team structure.
