New Karting Circuit Announces Historic Silverstone Grand Prix Timetable
Silverstone has unveiled plans to open an all‑weather karting circuit, Kart Silverstone, later this year — ahead of the historic 2025 British Grand Prix. The development marks an enhancement of significance for the legendary Northamptonshire circuit and forms part of Silverstone’s ongoing investment in enhancing its fan and community experience .
Kart Silverstone will feature five internationally–standard track layouts and a rooftop restaurant serving food and beverages. The centre will cater to all from novice to up‑and‑coming stars, offering a further avenue for fans to “race” at the venue of the British Grand Prix. Although it will not open in time for the early July Grand Prix, the karting circuit will be operating year‑round from autumn 2025.
Meanwhile, the 2025 British Grand Prix itself—correctly the Formula 1 Qatar Airways British Grand Prix—will take place at Silverstone on 4–6 July weekend, which will be the 76th time the race is staged and the 60th at the classic circuit in the post-war era .
The weekend race schedule is as follows:
• Friday, 4 July: FP1 12:30 UTC+1, FP2 16:00
• Saturday, 5 July: FP3 11:30, Qualifying 15:00
• Sunday, 6 July: Main race starts at 15:00 local time (UTC+1) — made up of 52 laps of a 306 km track .
Lewis Hamilton, racing for Ferrari, will again return to his home circuit in search of a record-equalling 10th British GP win. He is joined by fellow countrymen Lando Norris, George Russell, and Oliver Bearman. F1 boss Stefano Domenicali, meanwhile, has praised the scale of the event, writing it registered a sell-out weekend with around 500,000 spectators attending and highlighting the significance of Silverstone in F1’s future beyond its agreement until 2034 .
