A former Formula 1 driver has been announced as part of McLaren’s driver lineup ahead of the 2025 season. A notable announcement within the DTM came with the revelation that Timo Glock will make his return to the series after a three-year hiatus. Glock has signed a deal to race with Dorr Motorsport McLaren for the 2025 season, where he will drive the McLaren 720S GT3 EVO. He replaces Clemens Schmid in the team’s two-car lineup, marking a significant return to professional racing for the German driver.
Glock, who is well-known to F1 fans for his time in the sport, raced full-time from 2008 to 2012. During his F1 career, he competed for Toyota, Virgin Racing, and Marussia, earning recognition for his solid performances on the track. At 42 years old, Glock remains a respected figure in motorsport, and his return to the DTM is seen as a promising move for both him and his new team.
In an interview with Bild, Glock shared his enthusiasm for the new chapter in his career. He mentioned that his connection with the DTM had never fully ended and expressed his excitement about the potential of the Dorr Motorsport team. “I think the project is very, very good and exciting,” Glock said. “Dorr Motorsport wants to take the next step, and I can help with my experience.” Glock also highlighted his role in helping the team progress, with the goal of consistently finishing in the top 10 by the second year of the team’s operation. He remains optimistic about the possibility of podium finishes as well.
Despite his age, Glock feels in peak physical condition and is confident in his ability to compete at a high level. He drew inspiration from Fernando Alonso, who continues to perform at an elite level in Formula 1 at 43, reinforcing his belief that age is no barrier to success in motorsport.
