Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team have officially confirmed that George Russell will not take part in the 2025 British Grand Prix at Silverstone. The announcement was made in a brief statement issued on Saturday morning, ahead of the final preparations for race day.
The team cited medical grounds as the primary reason for Russell’s withdrawal, following an issue that reportedly emerged overnight. While details remain limited, Mercedes stated that the decision was made in consultation with team doctors and FIA medical personnel, with Russell’s health and safety being the foremost priority.
“After further assessment, the team and medical staff have concluded that George will not be able to participate in the British Grand Prix this weekend,” the statement read. “We are naturally disappointed, particularly as this is his home race, but his well-being comes first.”
