BREAKING NEWS: Lewis Hamilton fears he ‘won’t fit in new Ferrari car’ after big change in diet… read more

Lewis Hamilton, the seven-time Formula 1 World Champion, has been embracing the Italian lifestyle since joining Ferrari ahead of the 2025 season. From learning the language to indulging in local cuisine, Hamilton has been soaking up the culture. However, he jokingly revealed that his love for Italian food, particularly pizza, might pose a challenge for his upcoming season.

Speaking ahead of pre-season testing in Bahrain, Hamilton quipped that he had been eating so much pizza that he might struggle to fit into his Ferrari cockpit. “Oh God, I’ve eaten so many pizzas in the last few weeks,” he said with a chuckle. “But funnily enough, I’ve lost weight. Last week alone I had three pizzas. I love Italian food. Penne a la Arrabiata is still my absolute favorite dish.”

Hamilton’s fondness for Italian cuisine dates back to his karting days when he spent time in Italy with his future Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg. “I still remember going into town with Nico every evening to buy pizza and ice cream,” he recalled. “We ate so much pizza. My roots in motorsport lie in Italy. I drove there when I was 13. I remember that Luca del Fante, my first mechanic, and his mother always made me an incredible lasagna. I have never forgotten that lasagna to this day.”

While Hamilton has been enjoying the local cuisine, he acknowledged the importance of maintaining a disciplined diet to avoid putting on extra pounds. “I have to watch my diet, but that will be difficult,” he admitted. “I have to be careful. I can’t eat pizza all year round, otherwise I won’t fit in the car anymore.”

As Hamilton prepares for his debut season with Ferrari, he knows that every detail counts, including his weight. With teams constantly striving to shave off milliseconds of lap time, excess weight can make a significant difference. Hamilton has been following a vegan diet for several years, which he credits with improving his overall health and performance.

“It’s changed my life,” he said in a 2021 interview with Men’s Health. “I have more energy, I’m so much more productive. I wake up feeling way better, clearer in thought and fresher in my body. I recover quicker. I sleep better. My skin cleared up. I have fewer allergies. There are just so many impacts.”

As Hamilton navigates the challenges of his debut season with Ferrari, he will need to balance his love for Italian cuisine with the demands of a rigorous training regimen. With his dedication to his craft and his commitment to a healthy lifestyle, Hamilton is poised to make a strong impression in his first year with the iconic Italian team.
