Lando Norris tipped to overhaul Piastri ‘coolness’ in 2025 F1 title battle

As the 2025 Formula 1 season advances past its midway point, Lando Norris is mounting a powerful charge to overtake teammate Oscar Piastri for the Drivers’ Championship. Once overshadowed by the Australian’s ice‑cold consistency, the Briton now appears to have the momentum—and the form—to challenge Piastri’s firm grip at the top.

Norris returned to victory with back-to-back wins at the Austrian and British Grands Prix, showing growing confidence and precision—particularly under high-pressure conditions . His dominant Silverstone victory, capitalizing on a rare Piastri mistake during the restart, cut the Aussie’s lead to just eight points—ftrighteningly reducing the title race .

May’s Miami Sprint qualifying could have seen Norris starting to line up in third position behind Piastri, but things began turning around as he changed his priorities towards race pace instead of media spotlight . The great driver Damon Hill concurred, labeling Norris “dangerous” and pointing out his enhanced traction during critical sessions .

However, experts caution Norris’s turnaround is going to have to be underpinned by consistency. The critics note that his season has been marked by “little mistakes” in qualifying and races—mistakes Piastri has skirted largely . Indeed, the majority of people believe that it will come down to not making so many mistakes instead of raw pace—a song Norris is quite familiar with .

Piastri, or “Ice Boy” for his composed demeanor, has now taken the lead by some 10–20 points owing to flawless weekend performances. But as seen from the recent races, Norris isn’t just closing up—he’s closing in to dominate.

It’s now a duel between composed effectiveness from Piastri and unleashed power from Norris at this point, with half the season remaining. The setting is for an epic summer showdown.
