Sebastian Vettel Makes Sensational Racing Return at 2025 Race of Champions

Four-time Formula 1 world champion Sebastian Vettel is set to make a highly anticipated return to competitive racing in 2025. The German motorsport legend, who retired from F1 at the end of the 2022 season after finishing his career with Aston Martin, has officially confirmed his participation in the upcoming Race of Champions (ROC).

Vettel, known for his dominance during his tenure with Red Bull from 2009 to 2015, where he secured four consecutive world titles, has largely shifted his focus to environmental causes since stepping away from Formula 1. However, his passion for racing remains strong, and he is now preparing to once again showcase his skills on the track.

Vettel to Represent Germany Alongside Mick Schumacher

The 2025 Race of Champions will take place on March 7-8 at the Accor Stadium in Sydney, Australia. This marks the event’s first appearance in the Southern Hemisphere, adding an extra layer of excitement for motorsport fans. The ROC is an annual competition that brings together elite drivers from different disciplines, including Formula 1, NASCAR, and endurance racing, to compete in head-to-head battles in identical machinery.

Vettel is no stranger to the ROC, having won the individual event in London in 2015. Additionally, he achieved remarkable success in the Nations Cup, securing six titles while teaming up with fellow F1 great Michael Schumacher to represent Germany. In 2025, Vettel will once again don German colors, this time alongside Mick Schumacher, the son of the legendary seven-time world champion. This partnership adds an emotional and nostalgic element to the event, as Mick follows in his father’s footsteps to team up with Vettel, just as Michael did years before.

Pirelli Announced as Official Tyre Supplier

In a significant development ahead of the 2025 edition of the Race of Champions, it has been confirmed that Italian tyre manufacturer Pirelli will serve as the event’s official tyre supplier. This partnership underscores Pirelli’s commitment to motorsport across multiple disciplines, as the company is already the exclusive tyre provider for Formula 1.

Mario Isola, Pirelli’s Motorsport Director, expressed his enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating:

“The Race of Champions is a unique event because it brings together drivers from various motorsport backgrounds and allows them to compete on equal terms, putting their raw talent to the test. For Pirelli, this partnership is a fantastic opportunity to be associated with a prestigious event that has become a traditional fixture in the motorsport calendar. The fact that it will be held in Australia for the first time makes it even more special, as the country has a rich motorsport heritage and a passionate fanbase.”

Pirelli’s Continued Role in Motorsport Innovation

Pirelli’s involvement in the Race of Champions aligns with its ongoing efforts to advance tyre technology across different racing categories. The company has also been actively testing new tyre compounds for Formula 1, with recent test sessions involving current F1 drivers, including Lewis Hamilton. These tests are crucial in preparing for the 2026 season when F1 will introduce new regulations alongside updated tyre specifications.

Vettel’s return to competitive racing at the ROC, combined with Pirelli’s involvement, promises to make the 2025 edition of the event an unmissable spectacle for motorsport fans worldwide.
