Red Bull Star Yuki Tsunoda Hit with Major FIA Penalty Following Disqualification at Canadian GP
Yuki Tsunoda has been dealt a major blow at the Canadian Grand Prix, as the FIA confirmed his disqualification from a session due to a breach of technical regulations. The Red Bull Racing driver’s results have been wiped following a post-session inspection.
The FIA announced the decision after discovering that Tsunoda’s car failed to comply with the technical standards required under Formula 1’s regulations. While the specifics of the violation have not yet been made public, early reports suggest it could involve irregularities with car weight or aerodynamics.
Tsunoda, who had impressed with his qualifying performance, will now be forced to start from the back of the grid—or potentially from the pit lane—pending the team’s response. All of his times from the affected session have been officially deleted.
In a statement, the FIA said:
“Post-session checks revealed that car No. 22 was not in full compliance with Article 3 of the Formula 1 Technical Regulations. As a result, the driver has been disqualified from the session.”
Red Bull has yet to release a formal statement but is reportedly reviewing the details of the decision and considering whether to lodge an appeal.
The penalty comes at a challenging time for Red Bull, who are already under pressure amid tight competition from rivals Mercedes and Ferrari. The team will now have to rethink its race-day strategy as Tsunoda faces the difficult task of fighting his way through the field.
