Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur has shared his views on the disqualifications of Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc from the Chinese Grand Prix, which shook up the drivers’ standings. Hamilton, a seven-time world champion, was disqualified after his car showed excessive wear on the skid block, falling below the required minimum thickness of 9mm. Leclerc, on the other hand, was penalized for his SF-25 car being 1kg under the minimum weight limit.
In an official statement, Ferrari acknowledged the errors that led to both drivers’ disqualifications. The team emphasized that there was no intention to gain an unfair advantage through these infractions, underlining the honest nature of the mistake.
