After clinching pole position and converting it into a commanding win on the streets of Jeddah, the reigning world champion’s car was randomly chosen for thorough scrutiny — a standard procedure the sport’s governing body carries out regularly to ensure technical compliance.
The inspection focused on several key areas of the RB20, including the front and rear suspension dampers, engine air intake system, charge air cooling, oil and coolant systems, and their associated sensors. According to the official FIA report, no irregularities were found in any of the examined components. All systems were found to be fully compliant with the technical regulations, confirming the legality of Verstappen’s performance and securing his pole-to-flag win.
The qualifying session itself was intense and action-packed. Verstappen narrowly snatched pole position with a lap time of 1:27.294, beating McLaren’s Oscar Piastri by a razor-thin margin of just 0.01 seconds. The session was dramatically interrupted when Piastri’s teammate, Lando Norris, who was leading the championship going into the race, crashed into the barriers during Q3. Norris was unhurt, but the incident ended his qualifying efforts early and left him starting 10th on the grid.
