The Brit, clearly unhappy with how the situation unfolded, later appeared to swear and gesture at Verstappen during a heated on-track exchange as he fought his way back through the field. Despite the frustration, Norris eventually overtook Verstappen and went on to finish second behind teammate Piastri. The moment highlighted just how fierce the battle at the front has become, especially between these two competitive drivers.
2. Martin Brundle’s Awkward Grid Walk
Martin Brundle’s legendary grid walks are always a highlight of Formula 1 weekends, especially in glamorous locations like Miami. However, this one didn’t go quite to plan. Brundle attempted to interview several celebrities before the race, including comedian Jack Whitehall, chef Gordon Ramsay, and musician/actor LISA. In a particularly uncomfortable moment, Brundle struggled to get LISA’s attention and even enlisted the help of Sir Jackie Stewart to assist him. When the interview finally happened, it fell flat. After finishing third in Saturday’s sprint race, expectations were higher for Sunday, but Hamilton found himself stuck in eighth. He managed to set the fastest lap of the race on medium tyres and asked the team to let him pass Charles Leclerc to chase down Kimi Antonelli. Ferrari eventually instructed the drivers to swap positions, but Hamilton had already spent several laps stuck in Leclerc’s dirty air. When the order finally came, Hamilton sarcastically responded, “Have a tea break while you’re at it!” Later, when told to give the position back, he quipped, “Do you want me to let him through as well?” The radio messages reflected his growing impatience with the team’s decision-making process.
4. LEGO Race Steals the Show
Before Sunday’s race, all 20 F1 drivers took part in a special LEGO-themed race event on a miniature version of the Miami International Autodrome. The quirky competition featured 10 LEGO-built cars decorated in the colours of their respective teams. While the cars only reached speeds of around 20mph, the action was surprisingly entertaining. There was even a bit of contact between the McLaren driven by Norris and the Alpine piloted by Pierre Gasly. Mercedes driver George Russell cheekily declared it “the most fun race of the weekend.” A light-hearted moment that gave fans a glimpse of the drivers’ playful sides.

Oscar Piastri has become a standout performer this season, and his Miami victory solidified his status as a title contender. After dominating the weekend, he tried to celebrate in style by performing the viral “griddy” dance in front of his McLaren team. While the Australian driver has been flawless on the track, his dance moves left a bit to be desired. Nonetheless, the attempt was good-natured and showed the 23-year-old enjoying his moment in the spotlight after another commanding performance.
