McLaren F1 driver Lando Norris was shaken after the dramatic Silverstone crash.

Lando Norris was walking on air after a thrilling first home Grand Prix at Silverstone on July 6, 2025—his fourth of the season. The party mood suddenly took a horrifying turn, however, when a photographer tumbled from an undoing pit-fence and struck Norris in the face with a bloodied slash on his nose.

Norris had only just taken a rain-lashed, safety-car-chaos British Grand Prix—his first Silverstone win since McLaren’s 2008 victory. Feelings were running high as he made his way along the pit lane to hug fans, trophy in hand. That is where everything went awry: a photographer stumbled over moved fencing and into the driver, injuring him .

McLaren confirmed the injury to be minor—a small cut on the face treated there and then with steri‑strips and a nose plaster . McLaren personnel escorted Norris straight back to the garage, barring him from post-race party work . Although clearly shaken, Norris went on to try to joke about his “second scar” adding to his collection .

Following the shock, Norris insisted he was “fine” and nothing would “dampen the feeling” of a dream victory (). The victory left him eight points back of teammate Oscar Piastri in the title battle, leaving McLaren on top of Ferrari in the constructors’ championship .

It was a bitter taste to finish a day of triumph. The nose cut could heal—but Silverstone high is a moment Norris, and his battalion of supporters, won’t soon forget.
