Mercedes CONFIRM George Russell Will NOT P…read more
In a shocking development ahead of the 2025 British Grand Prix, Mercedes have officially confirmed that George Russell will not take part in Sunday’s race at Silverstone.
The team made the announcement late Saturday evening following medical assessments and discussions with the FIA. Russell, who had qualified on the second row, was reportedly experiencing physical discomfort stemming from an incident during FP3 and was ultimately declared unfit to race.
Mercedes released a brief statement:
“After consultation with the FIA Medical Delegate and our team doctors, we regret to confirm George Russell will not participate in the British Grand Prix. His health and recovery remain our top priority.”
Russell’s absence marks a huge blow for the Brackley-based team at their home Grand Prix. It is currently unclear whether reserve driver Mick Schumacher will be stepping in or if the team will field only one car with Lewis Hamilton.
Further updates are expected ahead of the race start.
