Denver Broncos Honor Players for Exceptional Community Service

The Denver Broncos have announced their annual “Champions in the Community” awards, recognizing select players for their outstanding service and commitment to the community. In addition to inside linebacker Alex Singleton, who was nominated for the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award, five players have been honored for their philanthropic efforts.

Outside linebacker Nik Bonitto received the team’s Community Impact Award for his expanded outreach in 2024. His efforts included partnering with Food Bank of the Rockies to provide Thanksgiving meals to 200 families through Aurora Community Connection. He also brought 50 youth from Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver holiday shopping during his first annual Sacks of Joy by Saint Nik event and hosted his first youth football camp.

The team’s Community Ambassador Awards were presented to two players who demonstrated exceptional community involvement. Tackle Garett Bolles, who was nominated for the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award in 2023, continued his monthly mentorship program with the Arapahoe County 18th Judicial Youth Probation Court. He also visited Marvin W. Foote Youth Services Center and hosted a free football camp for 350 youth.

Cornerback Pat Surtain II was also recognized for his community efforts. He unveiled Inspiration STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) rooms at two high schools in Denver Public Schools and provided a grant to a third school to build the next room at Arvada High School. Additionally, he spearheaded a community initiative where he distributed 100 bikes to children served by A Precious Child.

The team’s Rookie of the Year Award was co-presented to two players: Tackle Frank Crum and Guard Nick Gargiulo. They were recognized as the Community Co-Rookies of the Year for their exceptional volunteerism and community involvement. The duo attended over half of the team’s community events during the season and appeared at events across all three of the Denver Broncos Foundation’s focus areas.

The Denver Broncos’ “Champions in the Community” awards serve as a testament to the team’s commitment to giving back to the community. The players recognized for their community service have demonstrated a remarkable dedication to making a positive impact in the lives of others. Their efforts have not only improved the lives of those in need but have also inspired others to follow in their footsteps.

The Denver Broncos Foundation focuses on three key areas: youth development, health and wellness, and community development. Through their community outreach programs, the team aims to make a lasting impact in the Denver metropolitan area and beyond. The players recognized for their community service have embodied the spirit of the Denver Broncos Foundation and have demonstrated a commitment to giving back to the community.

As the Denver Broncos continue to make a positive impact in the community, they are proud to recognize the players who have gone above and beyond to make a difference. The “Champions in the Community” awards serve as a reminder of the importance of community service and the positive impact that can be made when individuals come together to make a difference.
