Ferrari have been hit with a significant blow after their number 50 Hypercar was disqualified from the 2025 24 Hours of Le Mans due to a breach of technical regulations. The decision came following post-race scrutineering, which revealed non-compliance issues with the car’s rear wing. Initially, the car — driven by Antonio Fuoco, Miguel Molina, and Nicklas Nielsen — finished fourth overall, just 29.666 seconds behind the race-winning number 83 AF Corse entry. However, the team’s result has now been nullified after stewards determined the car violated the 2025 Le Mans Hypercar (LMH) Technical Regulations.
The World Endurance Championship (WEC) confirmed the disqualification in a social media post on X, stating: “Ferrari #50 disqualified from Le Mans. The rear wing support was not in compliance with the deflection test indicated in Article 3.8.7 of 2025 LMH Technical Regulations and the homologation for car 50.”
The investigation found two major issues with the car’s rear wing. Firstly, four bolts were missing from the rear wing support, a direct violation of the car’s approved homologation form. Secondly, the rear wing deflected by 52 millimeters during testing — far exceeding the allowed maximum deflection of 15 millimeters outlined in the regulations. The team manager acknowledged both violations and chose not to dispute the findings, resulting in a swift and final ruling from the stewards.
While this disqualification does not affect the overall winner — Ferrari’s own number 83 AF Corse car, which secured a remarkable third straight Le Mans victory led by ex-Formula One driver Robert Kubica — it significantly alters the finishing order. The disqualification elevates teams such as Cadillac, Hertz Team Jota, and Toyota Gazoo Racing, each gaining a position in the final standings.
The setback is especially damaging for Ferrari’s number 50 crew in the wider context of the 2025 World Endurance Championship. The disqualification sees them fall 48 points behind the leading number 83 car, putting a major dent in their championship hopes. With the season progressing, recovering from such a deficit will be a major challenge for the Italian outfit.
