Panic swept through the paddock at the Austrian Grand Prix after a terrifying multi-car collision saw one F1 driver flip upside down in a dramatic opening-lap incident.

The shocking crash unfolded just moments after lights out, as several cars clashed through the opening corners. One car was launched into the air and flipped completely upside down, skidding through the gravel before coming to a halt near the barriers. Marshals and medical teams rushed to the scene as red flags were immediately brought out.

Spectators watched in horror as the flipped driver remained trapped inside the cockpit for several tense moments. Fortunately, officials later confirmed the driver was conscious and speaking but was transported to the medical centre for thorough evaluation.

At least four other cars were involved in the high-speed pile-up, with several suffering major damage and retiring from the race. The FIA has confirmed an investigation is underway, with on-board footage and telemetry being reviewed to determine the cause.

This frightening incident has once again sparked debate over safety measures, especially during congested race starts. The driver’s identity has not yet been officially released, pending full medical clearance and team confirmation.

More updates to follow as the story develops and teams assess the aftermath of this dramatic crash.
