Lewis Hamilton’s transition from Mercedes to Ferrari has been met with skepticism from Red Bull’s Helmut Marko, who questions the seven-time world champion’s ability to challenge Max Verstappen in the upcoming 2025 Formula 1 season.
Hamilton, 40, departed Mercedes after 12 seasons, during which he secured 84 Grand Prix victories and six drivers’ championships. His move to Ferrari aims to achieve an unprecedented eighth title, surpassing Michael Schumacher’s record.
Marko, Red Bull’s motorsport advisor, expressed doubts about Hamilton’s competitiveness, stating, “Even if he has a good Ferrari and we build a mediocre Red Bull for Max, I would put my money on Max.” He also questioned whether Hamilton could maintain peak performance throughout an entire season.
