Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner has officially confirmed the conclusion of the team’s partnership with Honda, highlighting the immense success their collaboration has achieved and expressing confidence in Honda’s future prospects.
Since their partnership began in 2019, Red Bull and Honda have enjoyed significant triumphs, with Max Verstappen securing four consecutive World Championships from 2021. Despite Honda’s official exit from Formula 1 at the close of the 2021 season, the Japanese manufacturer continued to support Red Bull with technical expertise. In May 2023, Honda announced a new partnership with Aston Martin, set to take effect in time for the 2026 regulation changes in the sport. This move effectively ended their collaboration with Red Bull.
Reflecting on the successful partnership, Horner stated, “Seven years ago, when we switched to Honda power units, there were doubts about the decision. However, over the years, we’ve proven it was the right choice, achieving historic records such as 21 wins out of 22 races in 2023.”
Looking ahead, Horner expressed optimism for Honda’s future in Formula 1, saying, “Honda is a very capable company with great strength. I’m confident they’ll have a competitive power unit by 2026.”
As Red Bull prepares to transition to its own powertrains in 2026, the team is determined to make the most of their final season with Honda, with hopes of securing more victories and championships. Horner concluded, “For our final season, both Red Bull and Honda will leave no stone unturned in our pursuit of victory. We will continue to work hard to win every race and secure additional championships.”
