Lewis Hamilton’s debut with Ferrari in the Australian Grand Prix was a tough one, with the seven-time world champion barely managing to secure a top 10 finish. A late strategy error and a costly overtaking move from Oscar Piastri relegated Hamilton to 10th place, showing that there’s much to be done before the team can challenge for race victories.
One area that needs work is the team radio communication. Early in the race, Hamilton and his engineer, Riccardo Adami, appeared to have communication issues, with Hamilton politely requesting less information during the race. This echoed similar challenges Hamilton faced in his early years at Mercedes, where he preferred clear, direct instructions instead of excessive details.
