Chelsea’s Goalkeeping Situation: No New Signings on the Horizon Despite Robert Sanchez’s inconsistent form, Chelsea have reportedly decided against signing a new goalkeeper in 2025. The Blues are enjoying a successful first season under Enzo Maresca, but the goalkeeping position remains a topic of debate among fans.

Filip
Sanchez, who joined Chelsea from Brighton last year, has struggled to convince, making several mistakes this season. Meanwhile, summer signing Filip Jorgensen has impressed in his limited opportunities, leading to calls from fans for him to take over as the first-choice goalkeeper.

However, Maresca has maintained his faith in Sanchez, stating that “the idea is not to change” despite Jorgensen’s encouraging form. According to reports, Chelsea are happy with their current goalkeeping options, including Sanchez, Jorgensen, and youngster Mike Penders, who will join the club next season.

Penders, a 19-year-old goalkeeper, was signed from KRC Genk for €20 million in the summer. However, his development has been hindered by a lack of playing time, with only four senior appearances under his belt. Unless his situation changes in the second half of the season, Penders will arrive at Chelsea with limited experience.

For now, it seems that Chelsea are content with their current goalkeeping situation, and fans will have to wait and see how the situation unfolds in the coming months.
