Ferrari Announces Official Name of Lewis Hamilton’s 2025 F1 Car

Ferrari has officially confirmed the name of the car that seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton will drive in the 2025 Formula 1 season. The highly anticipated challenger will be called the SF-25, continuing the team’s naming tradition from previous seasons.

Hamilton’s First Experiences with Ferrari Machinery

Although Hamilton has yet to get behind the wheel of Ferrari’s 2025 car, he has already begun familiarizing himself with the team and their existing machinery. Since making the shock move from Mercedes to Ferrari, the British driver has been actively engaging in private testing sessions. This past week, Hamilton and his new teammate, Charles Leclerc, took to the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya to drive Ferrari’s older F1 cars, the SF-23 and SF-24.

During these tests, Hamilton suffered an early setback when he crashed the SF-23 on Tuesday. The incident forced Ferrari to cut the session short, but despite this hiccup, the team remains optimistic about Hamilton’s integration. These early tests were primarily aimed at helping him adapt to Ferrari’s operational setup and driving dynamics ahead of his first official race in red.

Upcoming Tests Before Pre-Season

Before getting his hands on the SF-25, Hamilton will take part in additional testing sessions in early February. From February 4-5, he and Leclerc will participate in a Pirelli tyre test at the Circuito de Jerez. This test is significant as it will provide insights into the 2026 F1 tyre compounds while also giving Hamilton more track time with Ferrari’s 2024 car.

The official pre-season testing for the 2025 F1 season will take place in Bahrain from February 26-28, where the SF-25 will finally make its debut on track. This will be the first time fans see Hamilton in Ferrari’s latest machine, offering a glimpse of what the team’s new package could deliver in the upcoming championship fight.

Ferrari’s SF-25 to Be Unveiled in February

Ferrari has been building anticipation for its 2025 challenger with teasers on social media, hinting at the name reveal under the tagline “New Year, New Name.” As expected, the car’s designation follows a logical progression, with SF-25 succeeding its predecessors.

The official unveiling of the SF-25’s livery will take place at F1’s live car launch event at London’s O2 Arena on February 18. This unique event will feature all 10 teams revealing their liveries for the new season as part of Formula 1’s 75th-anniversary celebrations.

However, the full SF-25 car will not be revealed until the following day, February 19, at Ferrari’s private Fiorano circuit. This launch will provide an in-depth look at the design philosophy behind the new car, as well as insights from Ferrari’s leadership, engineers, and drivers.

Anticipation Builds for Hamilton’s Ferrari Debut

Hamilton’s move to Ferrari is one of the biggest stories in recent F1 history, and excitement continues to grow as fans await his first official laps in the SF-25. With Ferrari aiming to end Red Bull’s dominance, all eyes will be on Hamilton and Leclerc as they prepare for the 2025 season opener in Bahrain.
