Hamilton and Ferrari get started on F1 title hunt
Lewis Hamilton’s transition to Ferrari marks a significant chapter in Formula 1 history. This move fulfills Hamilton’s long-held aspiration to don the iconic red racing suit.
On January 20, 2025, Hamilton arrived at Ferrari’s headquarters in Maranello, Italy, to commence his journey with the team. Dressed in an all-black suit, he posed alongside a classic Ferrari F40, symbolizing his integration into the Ferrari family. Expressing his enthusiasm, Hamilton shared on social media, “There are some days that you know you’ll remember forever and today, my first as a Ferrari driver, is one of those days.”
The day’s itinerary included a comprehensive immersion program. Hamilton visited the Fiorano test track and the historic house of Enzo Ferrari, gaining insights into the team’s rich heritage. He also met with key figures, including Team Principal Fred Vasseur and Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna, to discuss the team’s vision and objectives for the upcoming season.
A notable highlight was Hamilton’s effort to connect with the team and fans by speaking Italian during his visit. Greeting staff with phrases like “come stai” (how are you) and “tutto bene” (everything okay), he showcased his commitment to embracing the team’s culture.
Hamilton’s move to Ferrari comes after a season where he finished seventh in the championship standings, securing two race victories. At Ferrari, he will partner with Charles Leclerc, aiming to end the team’s drivers’ title drought that has persisted since 2007. Carlos Sainz, the previous occupant of the seat, has transitioned to Williams for the 2025 season.
The pre-season testing is scheduled to begin in Bahrain from February 26 to 28, with the season opener set for March 14-16 in Australia.
