Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc are set to be one of the most intriguing duos in the 2025 Formula 1 season, as they will both represent Ferrari. With Hamilton now a part of the Scuderia, the rivalry between the two drivers is generating a lot of excitement. After a recent SF-25 shakedown at Ferrari’s Fiorano circuit, Hamilton spoke to the media, including GPblog, offering his thoughts on his new teammate, Leclerc. Hamilton acknowledged that he has a good relationship with Leclerc, highlighting his professionalism and the strong bond the Monegasque driver has with Ferrari. “Charles, we’ve got a great relationship. I’m just trying to observe how he works,” Hamilton shared. “He’s very, very professional, clearly well-loved within this team, and well embedded in this team.” Leclerc, who has spent nearly his entire F1 career at Ferrari, is deeply familiar with the team’s environment, which Hamilton believes has helped him settle in comfortably.
Hamilton also pointed out Leclerc’s speed and natural talent, something he has been aware of for quite some time. “So he jumps in and he’s on it straight away,” Hamilton remarked. “He’s very fast, and I’m completely aware of that.” Leclerc has consistently impressed with his qualifying performances, and Hamilton recognizes his potential, citing his impressive ability to put together great races. Hamilton even recalled telling the media years ago, during the Bahrain Grand Prix, that Leclerc had a “bright future ahead of him.” At 27 years old, Leclerc has already achieved a lot in his career and has shown maturity beyond his years. Hamilton reflected on his own experiences at that age, noting, “He’s probably more mature than I was when I was 27.”
However, Hamilton knows that facing Leclerc in his home country and on his turf will not be easy. He’s fully aware of the challenge that lies ahead in competing against the Monegasque driver. “It is not going to be easy to beat him, naturally, especially in his home,” Hamilton admitted. Despite this, Hamilton expressed optimism about working together with Leclerc to push the team forward. “We’ll work together and we’ll collaborate, to make sure the car’s moving, the team moves forwards in the right way, and we’re going to have some great races, I hope,” he concluded.
As the 2025 season looms, the dynamic between Hamilton and Leclerc is sure to be a focal point, and it remains to be seen whether the seasoned seven-time world champion can overcome the fast and talented Leclerc.
