Oscar Piastri Signs Mid-Season Deal with….read more
Oscar Piastri, currently enjoying a standout season in Formula 1, has signed a contract midway through the 2025 campaign—but surprisingly, it’s not a racing deal, nor is it with his team, McLaren.
The 24-year-old Australian driver has been in top form since the season began, emerging as a serious title contender and sitting at the top of the drivers’ championship standings. Since joining McLaren in 2023, Piastri has shown steady progression, and 2025 has been his most impressive year yet. However, despite leading the championship by just eight points ahead of his team-mate Lando Norris, McLaren has opted not to appoint a clear number-one driver. The decision has led to healthy competition between the pair, keeping fans on the edge of their seats as they battle it out for supremacy within the team.
The turning point in the season came during the 12th round at Silverstone, the iconic British Grand Prix. There, Piastri had to endure a tough result, finishing second behind Norris. The victory marked a historic first home win for Norris and significantly reduced Piastri’s advantage in the title race. While the result on track was a bitter pill for Piastri to swallow, the Australian was able to find solace off the circuit with a major personal announcement.
Piastri has officially signed with global talent management powerhouse IMG Models, marking his first significant step into the world of modelling and brand partnerships. Known for managing high-profile names in fashion, sport, and entertainment, IMG Models boasts a stellar roster that includes global icons like Gigi and Bella Hadid, Hailey Bieber, and actor-model Patrick Schwarzenegger. Piastri now becomes one of the few elite athletes represented by the agency, joining the likes of British tennis talent Jack Draper.
IMG Models was established in 1987 by sports agent Mark McCormack, who envisioned managing modelling talent with the same professionalism and structure applied to athletes. Since then, it has grown into one of the most influential agencies worldwide, with offices across major fashion capitals—New York, London, Paris, Milan, Los Angeles, and Sydney.
While Piastri is best known for his performances on the racetrack, his venture into modelling isn’t entirely new. In the summer of 2024, he posed for Esquire Australia in a sleek and well-received fashion shoot that hinted at his off-track charisma and potential in front of the camera. His portfolio may still be in its infancy, but his rising profile in the F1 world combined with his recent signing suggests that Piastri is ready to explore new avenues in branding and sponsorship.
As his fame continues to grow both on and off the track, Piastri’s latest move is a clear sign that he is preparing for a future that extends beyond just racing. For now, though, fans will be watching closely to see if the young Aussie can hold his lead and become Formula 1 World Champion—while also taking the fashion world by storm.
