Lewis Hamilton has opened up about the challenges and excitement he has experienced during his initial weeks with Ferrari. Although he’s had a challenging few seasons with Mercedes, he’s hopeful that the move to Ferrari will reignite his passion for racing and help him pursue his goal of securing an eighth world title, a record that has eluded him thus far.
At the launch of the F1 75 event, when asked about his transition to Ferrari, Hamilton gave a one-word response: “Excited.” His enthusiasm, however, didn’t stop there. In an in-depth interview with REC Anything on YouTube, he explained more about his early days with the Scuderia team. He admitted that although he doesn’t typically approach new experiences with specific expectations, his first few weeks at Ferrari had been both challenging and rewarding.
Hamilton reflected on how difficult it has been, acknowledging the steep learning curve that comes with joining such a prestigious and passionate team. However, he also emphasized how thrilling the experience has been. The scale and intensity of the Ferrari operation were beyond his expectations. The size of the team, as well as the palpable passion of everyone involved, struck him deeply. It’s an atmosphere he describes as “real” and even “quantifiable.” The Ferrari factory itself has been a highlight for him, noting how enjoyable it has been to simply walk around and soak in the team’s energy.
He further elaborated on how the team’s dedication has impressed him. Despite the long hours, including late nights working until 10 pm, there’s an undeniable sense of commitment among everyone at Ferrari. No one seems eager to leave; instead, the collective focus and drive make the work environment feel even more compelling. It’s this level of dedication, Hamilton says, that has made his move to Ferrari even more rewarding.
Hamilton confessed that he expected his transition to Ferrari to be tough, and it has certainly lived up to that anticipation. But, he’s embracing the challenge, constantly learning and growing with each passing day. In fact, he has found it to be a revitalizing experience, as the new challenge has proven to be exactly what he needed. Walking into work every day with a smile on his face, Hamilton has rediscovered the joy in his racing career.
Although the road ahead will undoubtedly come with more challenges as he adapts to the team and Ferrari’s way of working, Hamilton remains positive. His optimism and passion for this new chapter in his career are palpable. With a refreshed outlook, he’s eager to work alongside his new team and is focused on what’s to come.
