Jonathon Cooper Honored with 2024 Darrent Williams Good Guy Award
Outside linebacker Jonathon Cooper has been recognized as the 2024 Darrent Williams Good Guy Award winner, as voted by the Pro Football Writers of America Denver chapter. This prestigious award is presented annually to a player who embodies the qualities of enthusiasm, honesty, and cooperation with the media, as exemplified by the late Broncos cornerback Darrent Williams.
Cooper is the 15th Broncos player to receive this honor since its inception in 2007. Notably, he is the first defensive player to be chosen as the recipient since 2020 and the first linebacker to receive the award since 2016.
According to ESPN Senior Writer and former national president of the PFWA Jeff Legwold, Cooper was the winner in a closely contested vote, earning recognition for his reliability, candor, and willingness to provide insightful comments without hesitation.
Other players who received significant consideration for the award included cornerback Pat Surtain II, defensive lineman Zach Allen, and right tackle Mike McGlinchey, who was the 2023 recipient of the Darrent Williams Good Guy Award.
The Darrent Williams Good Guy Award serves as a testament to the positive impact that players can have on their teams and communities. By recognizing players who demonstrate exceptional character and cooperation with the media, the award helps to promote a culture of respect, honesty, and enthusiasm within the NFL.
