The appointment was announced during the last meeting of the year, held in Budapest.
The president of FC Porto, André Vilas-Boas, was appointed by the Board of Directors of the European Club Association (ECA) to join the UEFA Club Competitions Committee, the body announced today.
“Giorgio Chiellini of Juventus (Italy), Andre Villas Boas of FC Porto (Portugal) and Niclas Carlnén of Malmöe FF (Sweden) have been appointed by the ECA Council as representatives on the UEFA Club Competitions Committee, subject to approval by the UEFA Executive Board”, indicated the ECA, in a statement.
The appointment was announced during the last meeting of the year, held in Budapest, where discussions focused on the “historic year” for the ECA, “the voice of 728 members across Europe — an increase of 66% since the end of 2023 ” .
Benfica’s president, Rui Costa, has been part of the ECA administration, led by Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, president of Paris Saint-Germain, since September 2023.
