Formula 1 returns to action this weekend following the summer break, with the Dutch Grand Prix taking centre stage at Zandvoort. As teams and drivers prepare for round 12 of the 2026 season, the latest weather forecast could play an important role throughout the weekend.
The 2026 Dutch Grand Prix is also a significant occasion for Formula 1, as Zandvoort is set to host its final race for the foreseeable future. The circuit has been removed from the F1 calendar from 2027 onwards, meaning this weekend will be the last opportunity for drivers such as Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton to compete around the 2.646-mile Dutch circuit for now.
With changing conditions expected across the weekend, the possibility of rain could add another layer of uncertainty to the event.
Friday: Sprint Qualifying
Friday’s running began with wet conditions around Zandvoort, as rain was reported in the area during the morning.
However, the latest forecast indicates that conditions should improve ahead of Sprint Qualifying. From around 15:00 local time through to 20:00, the probability of precipitation is currently expected to remain at zero per cent.
Temperatures are forecast to stay relatively cool, ranging between 17 and 18 degrees Celsius. Rain could return later in the evening, but it is not currently expected to disrupt Sprint Qualifying.
Saturday: Sprint and Qualifying
Saturday could bring more unpredictable conditions. Rain is currently expected to remain a possibility throughout the day, particularly around the Sprint.
When the Sprint begins at 12:00 local time, temperatures are forecast to be around 16°C, with a 44 per cent chance of precipitation.
The risk of rain is then expected to fall significantly as the afternoon progresses. By the time qualifying begins at 16:00, the chance of precipitation is currently forecast at just seven per cent, with temperatures around 17°C.
Winds could also be noticeable, with gusts expected to reach approximately 15 to 16mph.
Sunday: Dutch Grand Prix
Sunday’s race-day forecast currently looks considerably more settled. Sunny intervals are expected, while temperatures should remain between 17 and 18°C.
The chance of rain is relatively low, with forecasts currently putting the risk at around 8 to 12 per cent during the morning and early afternoon.
If conditions remain as predicted, the final Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort could take place under mostly favourable conditions, although the unpredictable Dutch weather means teams will still need to remain prepared for changes.
