The FIA has officially confirmed the final classification of the 2026 Barcelona Grand Prix following the application of post-race penalties that slightly altered the finishing order.
Round seven of the Formula 1 season delivered a memorable afternoon at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, with Lewis Hamilton securing a landmark victory for Ferrari. The seven-time world champion ended a frustrating 686-day wait for a race win by producing a dominant performance, crossing the finish line almost 20 seconds ahead of Mercedes rival George Russell.
The victory marked Hamilton’s 106th career Formula 1 win and his first since joining Ferrari. The result also strengthened his position in the championship battle, as he capitalized on misfortune for several of his closest rivals.
One of those rivals was Mercedes youngster Kimi Antonelli. The Italian looked set to salvage valuable points before suffering an engine failure in the closing stages of the race. Antonelli retired on lap 62 after completing more than 90 percent of the race distance, meaning he was still classified in the final results.
Following the race, FIA stewards reviewed several incidents and handed Antonelli a five-second time penalty for repeatedly exceeding track limits. Officials determined that he left the circuit on four occasions without a valid reason. However, because he had already retired and completed sufficient race distance, the penalty did not affect the outcome of the race and will not carry over as a grid penalty for the Austrian Grand Prix.
Another driver punished after the race was Alpine’s Franco Colapinto. The Argentine received a 10-second time penalty after stewards ruled that he failed to reduce speed sufficiently under yellow-flag conditions. The sanction dropped him down the order and promoted other drivers in the final standings.
Despite speculation in some quarters, Hamilton’s victory remained untouched by any FIA investigation, with officials confirming that no further penalties would impact the Ferrari driver’s result.
Behind Hamilton, Russell secured second place for Mercedes, while McLaren’s Lando Norris completed the podium in third. Max Verstappen finished fourth for Red Bull, with Oscar Piastri taking fifth for McLaren.
Further down the order, Isack Hadjar impressed with sixth place, while Pierre Gasly and Liam Lawson collected valuable points. Arvid Lindblad also secured a top-10 finish, benefitting from Colapinto’s penalty adjustment.

Hamilton also claimed the fastest lap of the race, setting a time of 1:20.122 on lap 44 to cap off a near-perfect weekend for Ferrari.
