Max Verstappen has gained a position in the final Nürburgring 24 Hours classification after a late disqualification dramatically altered the results weeks after the race concluded.
The shake-up came following a detailed post-race investigation into the #84 Red Bull Team ABT Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2, which had originally finished second. Technical inspections later revealed that the car exceeded the permitted power output limits, leading to its exclusion from the official results.
As a result, several teams moved up the order. Walkenhorst Motorsport inherited second place, while ROWE Racing was promoted to third. Verstappen Racing also benefited from the ruling, advancing one position in the final standings after what had initially been a frustrating end to a promising race.
The decision sparked debate throughout the motorsport community, with many questioning why such a significant ruling took weeks to reach. Nevertheless, it highlighted the strict technical scrutiny that remains a key part of endurance racing, where results can remain provisional long after the chequered flag falls.
For Verstappen, the revised result provides some compensation for a race that was impacted by reliability issues despite showing strong pace throughout much of the event. While the team was unable to challenge for victory in the closing stages, the improved finishing position offers a small reward for its efforts.
