MotoGP championship leader Marco Bezzecchi has been suspended from the remainder of the Czechia Grand Prix weekend following a dramatic incident involving a track marshal at the Masaryk Circuit.
The controversy unfolded during the sprint race when the Italian rider crashed out at Turn 3. After falling from his Aprilia RS-GP machine, Bezzecchi rushed toward the area where marshals were recovering his stranded motorcycle from the gravel trap. What happened next stunned spectators, officials, and fellow competitors alike.
Video footage that quickly spread across social media appeared to show Bezzecchi becoming visibly frustrated during the recovery process. Reports suggested he was angered by the way his motorcycle was being handled, particularly because the engine was still revving while the bike was being moved. In a moment of apparent frustration, the MotoGP star was seen pushing one marshal before striking him in the face.
Officials immediately launched an investigation into the incident. Bezzecchi was summoned to appear before MotoGP stewards to explain his actions, but after reviewing the evidence, race authorities concluded that the offence was severe enough to warrant an immediate suspension from the event.

The official ruling stated that the Italian rider pushed and struck marshals who were carrying out their duties in recovering his motorcycle following the crash. As a result, he was excluded from participating in any further sessions or races during the Czechia Grand Prix weekend.
Aprilia Racing initially challenged the decision, hoping to overturn the suspension. However, the appeal was rejected, and the penalty remained in place, leaving Bezzecchi unable to compete in Sunday’s main race.
Despite the ban, Bezzecchi remained at the circuit and later took steps to make amends. Witnesses saw the visibly emotional rider meeting with the marshal involved in the incident. During the meeting, Bezzecchi reportedly offered a heartfelt apology, embraced the marshal, and presented him with a gift as a gesture of goodwill.
The championship leader also addressed the situation publicly through a statement on Instagram.
“I would like to apologise to the entire MotoGP community for my behaviour toward the trackside marshal,” Bezzecchi wrote.
He continued by acknowledging the vital role marshals play in ensuring rider safety during race weekends.
“I am also sorry because I know how much effort and sacrifice marshals make for our safety. This behaviour should never happen, and there is no justification for it.”
Bezzecchi concluded by extending his apologies to Aprilia Racing, MotoGP fans, and everyone affected by the incident.
