The 2026 Spanish Grand Prix at the Madring has officially concluded, with Mercedes youngster Kimi Antonelli claiming another crucial victory in his growing bid for his first Formula 1 world championship.

The 20-year-old Italian benefited significantly from a Virtual Safety Car period, which allowed Mercedes to bring him into the pits at a much lower cost while he was running in second place. Meanwhile, race leader Lando Norris was left frustrated as the situation worked against him.

Antonelli ultimately crossed the finish line comfortably in first, securing another important win. Max Verstappen finished second for Red Bull, while Norris had to settle for third after losing the lead during the strategic phase of the race.

Ferrari endured a difficult afternoon, with seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton retiring from the race after suffering a brake-related problem. Hamilton became the first driver to leave the race, adding to what was already a disappointing Spanish Grand Prix for the Ferrari team.

There was only one post-race penalty to account for. Alpine driver Pierre Gasly was handed a five-second penalty for exceeding the pit-lane speed limit. However, the sanction did not change his final classification, with Gasly remaining in 12th place.
