The final classification of the 2026 Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix has been officially revised after race stewards handed a post-race penalty to Cadillac driver Sergio Perez, while Red Bull’s Isack Hadjar was cleared of an alleged rules breach.
Perez initially crossed the line in 10th place and appeared set to score a valuable championship point for Cadillac. However, after reviewing the start procedure, FIA stewards determined that the Mexican driver had committed a false start. As a result, Perez received a 10-second time penalty after the race had finished.
The sanction significantly altered the lower end of the points positions. Perez dropped out of the top ten in the final classification, allowing Aston Martin driver Fernando Alonso to move up into 10th place. The promotion gives Alonso and Aston Martin their first championship point of the 2026 Formula 1 season, providing a welcome boost after a difficult start to the campaign.
Meanwhile, attention also focused on Red Bull youngster Isack Hadjar following an investigation into a possible infringement during a red-flag period. The French driver had delivered one of the standout performances of the weekend, finishing on the podium in the streets of Monte Carlo.
Following a detailed review of the incident, race officials decided that no further action was necessary. The ruling means Hadjar keeps third place and secures the first Formula 1 podium finish of his career. The result also marks another impressive achievement for Red Bull’s rising talent, who has continued to impress throughout his debut season with the Milton Keynes-based team.
At the front of the field, Mercedes star Kimi Antonelli produced a flawless drive to claim victory in the prestigious Monaco Grand Prix. The young Italian controlled the race from the front and successfully managed multiple interruptions and strategic challenges to secure one of the most significant wins of his Formula 1 career so far.
Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton finished second after a strong performance around the famous Monaco street circuit. Although the seven-time world champion remained within striking distance for much of the race, he ultimately crossed the line 6.271 seconds behind Antonelli.
Hadjar completed the podium in third, while McLaren’s Oscar Piastri narrowly missed out on a top-three finish in fourth place. Racing Bulls enjoyed an excellent afternoon, with Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad finishing fifth and sixth respectively.
Further down the order, Pierre Gasly, Alexander Albon and Esteban Ocon secured points-paying positions, while Alonso rounded out the top ten after Perez’s penalty was applied.
Several notable names endured difficult afternoons. Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc failed to finish inside the points on home soil, while McLaren’s Lando Norris ended the race outside the classified finishers. Defending world champion Max Verstappen also suffered retirement disappointment after a troublesome weekend for Red Bull.
