The stage is set for one of Formula 1’s most prestigious races as the FIA has officially confirmed the starting grid for the 2026 Monaco Grand Prix. Following an intense and dramatic qualifying session on Saturday, drivers now turn their attention to the narrow streets of Monte Carlo, where track position is often the key factor in determining the race winner.
Qualifying at Monaco is widely regarded as one of the most important sessions of the entire Formula 1 season. The second row of the grid is occupied by Ferrari teammates Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc. The seven-time world champion continues to make progress in his second campaign with Ferrari and will be targeting a podium finish on the streets of Monaco.

McLaren’s Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris occupy seventh and eighth positions respectively. While both drivers showed promising pace throughout the weekend, they were unable to challenge for the front rows during the final qualifying shootout.
Rounding out the top ten are Alpine’s Pierre Gasly in ninth and Racing Bulls driver Liam Lawson in tenth.
Further back, Williams teammates Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz will start from 11th and 12th positions. Audi’s Nico Hulkenberg lines up 13th ahead of Alpine’s Franco Colapinto in 14th.
Racing Bulls rookie Arvid Lindblad starts 15th, while Audi’s Gabriel Bortoleto begins from 16th after a difficult qualifying session that included a red-flag incident. Haas driver Esteban Ocon is 17th on the grid.
The final rows feature Cadillac duo Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas, who start 18th and 20th respectively, with Haas rookie Oliver Bearman splitting them in 19th position. Aston Martin endured a particularly disappointing qualifying session, leaving Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll at the back of the field in 21st and 22nd places.
The 2026 Monaco Grand Prix marks the 71st running of one of motorsport’s most famous races. Monaco first appeared on the Formula 1 World Championship calendar in 1950 and has remained one of the sport’s most iconic venues. Since 1955, it has featured on the championship schedule every year except for the pandemic-affected 2020 season.
Lights out for the race is scheduled for 3:00 PM local time in Monaco on Sunday. The event will cover 78 laps around the legendary Monte Carlo circuit and is expected to last approximately 90 minutes.
