Red Bull Racing are reportedly preparing to reward Isack Hadjar for his impressive performances during the 2026 Formula 1 season, with the young Frenchman emerging as a strong candidate to remain with the team beyond the current campaign.

Hadjar, 21, has made a positive impression during his first major opportunity alongside four-time world champion Max Verstappen. Although Red Bull continue to build their team around Verstappen, the identity of his long-term team-mate has remained a major issue for the Milton Keynes-based outfit in recent years.

Several drivers have attempted to establish themselves in the second Red Bull seat, including Pierre Gasly, Alex Albon, Liam Lawson and Yuki Tsunoda. However, none managed to secure the position on a long-term basis. Sergio Perez arguably came closest to becoming a permanent solution, but his time with the team eventually came to an end.

Hadjar is now showing encouraging signs that he could finally provide Red Bull with the consistency they have been searching for.

The French driver has delivered a number of strong performances throughout the 2026 campaign and currently occupies eighth place in the Drivers’ Championship. His points tally could have been even more impressive had he been able to keep his Monaco Grand Prix podium after Alpine successfully challenged Pierre Gasly’s post-race classification.

Despite that disappointment, Hadjar’s overall progress has strengthened his position within Red Bull’s plans. His ability to perform under pressure while competing alongside Verstappen has particularly impressed the team, with his development regarded as an important positive during a difficult period for the championship-winning outfit.

Reports suggest Red Bull are keen to extend Hadjar’s contract as recognition for his progress. Such a move would also provide the team with greater stability as they prepare for the next phase of Formula 1 competition.

However, the situation surrounding Red Bull’s second seat for 2027 is not completely settled. While Hadjar appears to be gaining support, the position has reportedly remained open as the team assesses its options.

Verstappen’s future is already secure after committing his long-term future to Red Bull through 2030 with a significant contract extension. That leaves the second seat as one of the major unresolved questions heading into the 2027 driver market.

With the Italian Grand Prix at Monza approaching, Hadjar will have another opportunity to strengthen his case. A strong result there could further convince Red Bull that they have finally found the driver capable of supporting Verstappen over the long term.
