The race—held at the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife—was unfolding with strong anticipation, particularly with high-profile drivers like Max Verstappen taking part. However, events took a sudden and alarming turn when race control halted the session following reports of a significant accident.
At approximately 17:55 local time, marshals signaled a red flag, immediately stopping all racing activity. Drivers were instructed to slow down and return to the pit lane as quickly and safely as possible. At first, the exact cause of the interruption remained unclear, but it soon became evident that a multi-car collision had occurred at the infamous Karussell section of the track—one of the most technically demanding corners on the circuit.
