The 2026 Formula 1 Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix is set to take place this weekend under bright sunshine and warm temperatures, with weather conditions expected to remain stable throughout all three days of action at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
This year’s event marks a significant change in Formula 1’s calendar. While the famous circuit has hosted the Spanish Grand Prix for decades, the arrival of the new Madrid street race means the Spanish GP title has now moved to the capital. As a result, the Barcelona race has been renamed the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix.
Despite the new name, the circuit remains one of the most familiar venues on the calendar. Rain is not expected, providing teams with uninterrupted track time. Later in the afternoon, temperatures are likely to increase slightly to around 26°C, with a perceived temperature of about 31°C.
Saturday is expected to be the hottest day of the weekend. During the final practice session, temperatures should reach 27°C while feeling more like 31°C under strong sunshine. Conditions are forecast to remain completely dry. By the time qualifying begins in the afternoon, temperatures could climb to 28°C, with a heat index close to 32°C. Humidity levels will drop slightly compared to Friday, while wind speeds are expected to remain low, creating ideal conditions for drivers pushing for pole position.
Sunday’s race is also expected to be run in dry weather. The Grand Prix starts at 3:00 p.m. local time, and forecasts indicate a zero percent chance of rain throughout the day. Temperatures should remain around 27°C, ensuring a warm and demanding race for both drivers and teams. With clear skies, minimal wind, and no threat of precipitation, tyre management and race strategy could play a crucial role in determining the outcome of the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix.
