The move comes as part of Formula 1’s expanding relationship with Apple TV+, which became the exclusive home of F1 coverage in the United States at the start of the 2026 season. The partnership followed the huge success of the Formula 1-inspired Apple-produced film released last year, a project that helped strengthen ties between the sport and the streaming giant.
Since the beginning of the current campaign, American viewers have required a monthly subscription to access live race coverage through Apple TV+. The service, which also includes a large library of films, documentaries, and television series, has served as the primary destination for Formula 1 content in the country throughout the season.
However, ahead of Round 8 of the championship at the iconic Red Bull Ring, Apple TV has announced a special promotion that will allow non-subscribers to enjoy the entire race weekend at no cost. The decision is expected to attract a larger audience as interest in Formula 1 continues to grow rapidly across North America.
The timing of the announcement could hardly be better, with the 2026 championship battle becoming increasingly competitive. For much of the season, it appeared as though Mercedes sensation Kimi Antonelli was on course to dominate the title race after securing five consecutive grand prix victories. The young Italian quickly established himself as the driver to beat and opened a substantial lead in the standings.
