Four-time Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen could one day make the switch to NASCAR after Cup Series team owner Justin Marks confirmed that discussions have already taken place with the Dutch racing superstar.
Verstappen, who has built a reputation as one of the most versatile and talented drivers in motorsport, has never hidden his passion for exploring different racing disciplines outside Formula 1. Earlier this year, he further demonstrated that ambition by taking part in the legendary Nürburgring 24 Hours event, reinforcing his desire to compete in some of the world’s most iconic races.
Now, Trackhouse Racing owner Justin Marks has revealed that he has spoken with Verstappen about the possibility of racing in NASCAR in the future. While there are no immediate plans for the Red Bull driver to leave Formula 1, the conversations suggest that competing in America’s premier stock car championship is something Verstappen is seriously interested in once the timing is right.
The news comes as uncertainty continues to surround Verstappen’s long-term Formula 1 future. Although the reigning champion remains under contract with Red Bull until the end of the 2028 season, speculation over what happens beyond that point has continued to grow. Reports have linked him with potential opportunities elsewhere, while others believe he could eventually pursue a broader motorsport career that includes endurance racing, GT competition, and NASCAR.
At the same time, Red Bull’s driver lineup remains a major talking point. Despite Verstappen’s long-term agreement, he is currently the only driver across Red Bull Racing and its sister team with a contract extending beyond the near future. That has fueled ongoing debate over who could fill the remaining seats in the years ahead.
One name frequently mentioned is Red Bull junior driver Nikita Tsolov. The highly rated youngster has recently addressed speculation linking him with a promotion to Formula 1 in 2027, although he has insisted his current focus remains on continuing his development and delivering strong performances before making the step to the pinnacle of motorsport.
For now, Verstappen’s priority remains competing for more Formula 1 victories and world championships with Red Bull. However, Marks’ comments have confirmed that a future NASCAR appearance is more than just a rumour. If the opportunity arises after his Formula 1 career reaches its next chapter, fans could eventually see one of the sport’s greatest modern drivers testing himself in an entirely different racing environment.
