While many fans arrived hoping to witness Max Verstappen claim victory on his debut appearance in the legendary endurance event, the race ultimately ended in disappointment for the Dutch star and his Mercedes-AMG squad.
A record crowd of more than 352,000 spectators packed the Nürburgring circuit across the weekend, making it the biggest attendance in the event’s history. BMW mounted a strong challenge throughout the race, placing the No. 99 BMW M4 GT3 EVO in fourth while the unusual BMW M3 Touring 24h entry finished an impressive fifth overall. Porsche once again demonstrated its endurance pedigree with several 911 GT3 entries inside the top 20, including the No. 24 Porsche 911 GT3 R Evo26 in sixth place.
Among the standout stories of the race was the tiny No. 300 Dacia Logan, which somehow survived the brutal 24-hour challenge and reached the finish line in 107th position. The underdog entry became a fan favourite throughout the event as it battled through the demanding conditions against vastly more powerful machinery.
Ford also enjoyed a respectable showing with its Mustang GT3 EVO entries, although misfortune struck some of the manufacturer’s leading cars before the finish. McLaren, Audi, Lamborghini, Aston Martin, Porsche, BMW, Mercedes-AMG, Toyota, Hyundai, Volkswagen, KTM, Ferrari, and Cupra were all represented in a hugely diverse field that featured 159 starters.
Out of those 159 entries, only 111 cars were officially classified at the end of the race, highlighting just how punishing the Nürburgring 24 Hours remains. A staggering 48 cars failed to make the final classification, with many retiring after incidents or mechanical failures.
Several high-profile GT3 contenders were among the retirements, including the No. 1 BMW M4 GT3 EVO, the No. 45 Ferrari 296 GT3 Evo26, multiple Audi R8 LMS GT3 evo II machines, and several Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2 entries. Porsche also suffered numerous retirements despite its overall depth across the field.
The race once again reinforced the Nürburgring’s reputation as one of the toughest endurance events in world motorsport. Changing weather, traffic management, mechanical reliability, and the extreme demands of the Nordschleife created a relentless test for every team and driver involved.
Although Verstappen’s bid for victory ended in heartbreak, his participation helped elevate the event to unprecedented global attention.
