Adrian Newey has addressed ongoing speculation linking former Red Bull team principal Christian Horner with a move to Aston Martin, insisting he has no knowledge of any such plans.
Now serving as Aston Martin’s managing technical partner and team principal after replacing Andy Cowell late last year, Newey has endured a difficult start to the 2026 Formula 1 season. The Silverstone-based team has managed just a single point from the opening 10 race weekends despite high expectations.
Newey and Horner enjoyed a hugely successful partnership at Red Bull between 2006 and 2024, helping the team secure multiple world championships before Newey departed. Horner was dismissed by Red Bull in 2025 and has since been linked with several teams, including Aston Martin, Alpine, and Haas.
With Aston Martin still the subject of rumours surrounding its leadership structure, Newey was asked during the Hungarian Grand Prix weekend whether Horner could join the team.
“I keep hearing these rumours about Christian,” Newey said. “I can’t comment further because I don’t really know anything about it. All I can say is that we’re very happy with our senior management team. We may make some minor adjustments, but overall we’re pleased with the people we have at Aston Martin.”
His comments appear to downplay speculation of an imminent reunion, while reinforcing his confidence in Aston Martin’s current leadership despite the team’s difficult campaign.
